Association of European Migration Institutions (AEMI)

In 1991, the Norwegian Emigrant Center participated in the establishment of AEMI –           Association of European Migration Institutions .AEMI is a network of organizations and institutions in Europe, which through research and dissemination focuses on key issues and challenges related to migration.

Newly elected chairman of the board (2011) and editor Hans Storhaug present an issue of the international journal AEMI Journal to Astrid Thors, Finland’s Minister for Migration and EU Affairs. The event took place during the annual AEMI conference in 2007, which this year was organized by the Migration Institute in Turku.

The Emigrant Center is proud that the Council of Europe has approved migration as a new European cultural route. The event took place at the Institute for European Cultural Routes in Luxembourg, 5 and 6 October 2007.Members of the Luxembourg government, the Council of Europe and ambassadors from many EU countries took part in the celebration, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of the European Institute for Cultural Routes.
